The award-winning virtuosic medieval vocal ensemble Anonymous 4, whose recordings have sold over one million copies, perform hymns, songs, and responses from Legends of Saint Nicholas.

Join us for a free pre-concert lecture by leading medievalist Mary Carruthers, Dean for Humanities and Erich Maria Remarque Professor of Literature at New York University, who will speak on Time, Space, and Memory: Some Medieval Insights. Her most recent books, The Book of Memory and The Craft of Thought, have made a major impact on the humanities generally. In this lecture Professor Carruthers will discuss how human memory in medieval times was considered an important creative tool of the mind, associated with the ability to invent, unlike today's view of memory as a means of capturing a lost time.

In addition, in a special event for faculty and students, "A Conversation with Mary Carruthers" will take place earlier in the day, from 3:00 - 4:00pm in the Woody Room of the Van Pelt Library.
