Cinema, Censorship, and the Scandal of Sex

Penn Humanities Forum in collaboration with Cinema Studies and International House Philadelphia

From Thomas Edison’s 18-second film The Kiss (1896) to recent controversies over trigger warnings on college campuses, the representation of sex on screen has always been a scandal. This series brings together films from the past two decades that have been seen as an outrage to decency, morality, religious beliefs, and other community norms.

Films are free and open to the public.
